Threw the drive into my desktop PC where my recovery software is, hooked it up in seconds. I needed this to recover data from a clients corrupted laptop hard drive. It worked perfectly, now the guy thinks I am a genius.
Worked well. There are no instructions, so be sure you know what you are doing before starting.
Allowed me to copy contents of a Vista laptop hard drive (whose laptop failed) that a USB enclosure failed at. A close look at the hard drive avoided this, but I didn't see any instructions/warnings with the adapter to warn more inexperienced users. Performs like expected. The only issue I had was it was possible to install the adapter incorrectly (on partially on the ide pins and on the master/slave pins).
We had to reorder another to complete the job. Bummer. The adpter came on time but died the first time we used it. Maybe it was just a lemon but we lost computer time.
Windows would not boot on the laptop drive, but all my data files and settings were still good. I used the IDE adapter to recover files from my laptop hard drive. I used the adapter to access the drive over the USB port on my other computer and it worked like a champ.
